The building has gone through a series of changes through the years, both functionally and aesthetically. Nowadays it is known as a vibrant center for cultural events.

Design Studio i29 looked back at the building’s history when designing a total overhaul for the interiors. Each and every room presents hints to the past but it does it in the most exuberant and colourful way. In fact, the connection that underlies between each space is exceptionally and amazingly one: color.

The studio already had a previous experience with the building when back in 2014 the venue hosted a pop-up installation done by i29.

Today the building flourishes with lush and extravagant interiors such as the emerald-coloured reception area or the restaurant exploding in a hurricane of blue and pink accents (allegedly to emulate the typical Dutch sky).

The colours get intense in a room, subtle in the other. Each and every room has a precise personality and they do not look back in terms of innovation and technology. The spiky personality of the interiors also stand as a representation of what used to be the fervent atmosphere of the times when the Felix Meritis served as a hotspot for avant-garde music.

Rolls of paper coming down from the ceilings tell us of a time when the building was used as an office for a printing company. We suddenly end up in a grandiose concert room where light and airy toned walls are contrasted by pitch black chairs.
