You may recall Foster+Partners as the fathers of an Apple Store in Miami which featured a bouncy, undulated roof. You may not know that this interesting solution was utilized by the same design studio on a private villa in Turkey, the Dolunay Villa.

The villa is located in a coastal context with breezy winds coming from the sea on the front, and a rocky setting on the back. And it’s right from that irregular line that goes all around the villa that its roof got inspired. In fact, the undulating roof wants to be a natural continuation of the surroundings.

The extravagantly shaped roofing does not only serve for its aesthetics, it extends beyond the area of the house to become a shelter for an outdoor terrace which flooring then disappears in a razor-sharp linear swimming pool.

The tall spaces and the big floor-to-ceiling windows serve as a natural remedy for the extremely hot temperatures the area goes through during summer. This particular setting, when letting the windows open, calmingly invites the soft and refreshing breeze of the Aegean sea in, accompanied by the balsamic scent of lavender, planted all around.

The interiors of the house speak of an over-the-top yet never too much taste, as the two stories of the villa delight the eyes with luxurious furnishings and rich elements such as the show-stopping spiral staircase made of limestone.
